Looking Back at 2018

As far as 2018 goes, we had a wonderful year full of both work and travel! It was our first full year of full-time jobs, and I’d say we made the most of our full-time salaries, vacation days, and credit card rewards!

Our decision to start Time Off Travelers came in late 2018 when I (Lucy) was between jobs. Longing to travel during my time away from work but realizing Kevin didn’t have the same time away from work, I realized what makes our travels unique is that we do it with limited resources (like time, money, etc.). We know that our situation resonates with many millenials and older generations as well. We are so thankful for our readers and followers, and we have lofty goals for reaching a broader audience in the year to come.

As young 20-somethings who began dating in early 2017, 2018 took us to many places we had never been before, and it took us on some of our first travels as a couple. Some of our favorite travel memories were made in Boston, Chattanooga, Tampa, Clearwater, Chicago, Charleston, New Orleans, Washington D.C., Paris, Monaco, Nice, Bordeaux, and of course Atlanta. We can’t wait for the destinations 2019 has in store!

Goals and Aspirations for 2019

We began Time Off Travelers without a content calendar, without experience using WordPress, and with limited knowledge of what it takes to run a successful travel blog. All of that to say, we are ready to conquer 2019 with lofty goals and dreams.

To help us gather our thoughts and passions, we decided to choose a word of the year. For 2019, our word is SEEK. We chose seek because it means explore, pursue, or chase, which are all verbs to describe our desire to seek adventure, seek happiness, seek joy, seek new friendships, seek experiencing new cultures, and so much more.

Learn blogging basics

Although perhaps boring to you, we’re so excited to get into the nitty gritty of blogging basics. We’re planning to take courses on SEO,WordPress, growing our Instagram reach, and photo editing. While these aspects of Time Off Travelers may seem small in the grand scheme of the blog, they’re actually crucial to the blog’s reach and ultimate success. Success in our eyes means reaching and helping the most eyes possible, so we’re going to do everything in our power to make Time Off Travelers successful.

Visit new destinations

2019 is sure to bring new adventures and voyages. As we begin to plan our travels for the year, we are excited to explore both within the United States and outside of it. Although places like Charleston and Paris have special places in my heart, we are hoping to get out and see all new places and faces in 2019. Do you have any suggestions for our travels? We are so excited to continue publishing itineraries for cities and countries, along with tips for traveling. We love having this outlet to inspire others and to share our advice and stories.
